Activity 1

Hi everybody,

Once again I want to thank you for participating in the workshop yesterday. I thought of putting my money where my mouth is and I decided to share an activity I am planning for my next class here at the Colombo. I am not sure if you can adapt it for one of your classes or if it suits any of the topics you usually teach but here it is.

Goal: Students will be able to describe their next vacation by describing a 2-day trip plan using a website for travelers .
1. Asks students where they have traveled and what other places they'd like to visit. Then give students a word search activity (see appendix A) to identify new vocabulary related to vacation planning.

Appendix A: Word search
2. Make a brief introduction of the web site they are going to use to plan their vacation. Give an example on how to plan a travel there.
3. Students work in pairs and agree on the city they would like to visit. Then they go to the web site and start planning their 2-day vacation completing the planning worksheet (see appendix B).
Appendix B:Trip planner

Finally students present their 2-day trip planner to other pairs.
